Setelah tahun ini bekerja sama dalam film Doubt, ratu drama Meryl Streep akan kembali bertemu Amy Adams di Julie & Julia, sebuah film yang akan diarahkan oleh Nora Ephron (You've Got Mail, Bewitched). Streep juga akan kembali bermain bersama Stanley Tucci setelah sebelumnya bekerja sama di The Devil Wears Prada.

Film ini sendiri diangkat dari memoir Julie Powell yang berjudul Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen. Film ini mengisahkan mengenai Julie Powell (Adams), seorang wanita yang merasa bosan akan kehidupannya sebagai seorang sekretaris, yang memutuskan untuk mencoba untuk memasak seluruh resep masakan yang ada di buku resep karya Julia Child (Streep), Mastering the Art of French Cooking selama satu tahun penuh. Dalam jangka waktu setahun itu, Julie menuliskan seluruh pengalamannya dalam sebuah blog, yang menghasilkan banyak orang yang mengikuti perkembangannya melalui internet. Film ini juga akan menggambarkan bagaimana kehidupan Julia Child bersama sang suami, Paul Child (Tucci), ketika sedang menuliskan buku resep tesebut di Paris.

Warnwer Bros. berencana untuk merilis Shorts pada musim panas 2009, tepatnya pada 7 Agustus 2009.

Aliens in the Attic (formerly known as They Came from Upstairs) is an upcoming feature film starring Robert Hoffman, Ashley Tisdale, Carter Jenkins, Henri Young, Regan Young, and Austin Butler. The film was set to be released on February 13, 2009 but was pushed back to July 31, 2009, according to the official site of the film. The first trailer of the film was released on October 23, 2008. The previous title of the film, "They Came from Upstairs" is now the film's tagline.

Funny People adalah film terbaru karya sutradara Judd Apatow, dan dibintangi oleh komedian Adam Sandler. Apatow sendiri menjanjikan akan menghadirkan lebih banyak unsur drama dalam film ini dibandingkan dengan film-filmnya sebelumnya.

Funny People sendiri bercerita mengenai dua orang stand-up comedian. George Simmons (Sandler), stand up comedian yang sukses namun sedang menghadapi masa-masa akhir hidupnya, dan Ira Wright (Rogen), seorang stand up comedian yang masih berusaha untuk menemukan karya terbaiknya. Suatu malam, George menonton penampilan Ira dan memutuskan untuk mengajaknya menjadi comedian pembuka dalam show-nya. Mereka berdua pun menjadi dekat dan menjadi sahabat baik. Satu hal yang baik George maupun Ira belum pernah miliki sebelumnya.

Selain Sandler, film ini juga akan dibintangi Seth Rogen dan Leslie Mann. Beberapa komedian seperti Dave Attell, Sarah Silverman, Norm Macdonald, dan Andy Dick juga akan menjadi cameo dalam film ini. Universal Pictures akan merilis Funny People pada 31 Juli 2009.

Orphan sendiri menceritakan mengenai sepasang suami istri (Sarsgaard-Farmiga) yang baru saja keguguran. Untuk mengobati suasana hati, mereka memutuskan untuk mengadopsi Esther (Fuhrman), seorang gadis berusia 9 tahun dari sebuah panti asuhan. Esther ternyata tak semanis yang mereka bayangkan.

Sutradara Jaume Collett-Serra sendiri terakhir kali terdengar namanya setelah menyutradarai Goal! 2 dan remake House of Wax. Orphan turut dibintangi oleh Peter Sarsgaard (The Skeleton Key) dan Vera Farmiga, yang baru saja tampil sangat memuaskan dalam The Boy in Striped Pyjamas. Warner Bros. akan merilis Orphan pada 24 Juli 2009.
